Criteria for GO FAIR Foundation qualification
Interpreting FAIR

The interpretation of the FAIR Guiding Principles by the GO FAIR community and adopted by the GO FAIR Foundation.
Hourglass

The center of the hourglass is based on minimal criteria for machine actionability
In the rest of the hourglass there is the freedom to operate.
Openness

As a default, data and resources should be made as open as possible, as restricted as necessary.
Distribution

Distributed architectures are the default, and should be centralized only as necessary.
No vendor lock-in

Aim for technological redundancy (no single points of failure) and avoid supplier/provider lock-in whenever possible.
